We are delighted to announce that our 2022 artist resident will be … Anthony Vahni Capildeo!
Having worked with us as the Head Judge of our 2021 International Poetry Competition, we cannot wait to see what award-winning writer Anthony Vahni Capildeo will produce during their artist residency at Cyprus Well, Charles Causley’s final home.
Our annual artist residencies are a major event in the Causley Trust calendar. Through a month-long stay at Cyprus Well, our residencies offer writers and artists the space and solitude to be creatively inspired and produce an artistic commission for the Trust.
Anthony Vahni is a Trinidadian Scottish writer who moved to the UK in 1991 to read English language and literature at Christ Church college at the University of Oxford. They have published eight books and eight pamphlets so far in their career. Their interests include plurilingualism, traditional masquerade, and multidisciplinary collaboration. They have held teaching and research positions at a number of universities across the UK, including Cambridge, Glasgow, Leeds, Sheffield, Kingston-upon-Thames, and Greenwich. They have also volunteered at Oxfam Head Office and the Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre.
