A Short Film
We hope you’ll enjoy this short film made in 2014, when the Charles Causley Trust partnered with Literature Works for an event held at Launceston Town Hall to celebrate both the life and work of Charles Causley and a long-term project which successfully refurbished, restored and regenerated his home, Cyprus Well. The house now provides a base for literature and other arts residencies, as well as other projects and activities by the Trust.
The film contains images of Cyprus Well’s interior at the time, and gives a brief overview of the Trust. It features, amongst others: the then-Director of Literature Works, Tracey Guiry; the poets Dr Alyson Hallett and Kathryn Simmonds (both former holders of residencies at Cyprus Well); the winners of the 2014 Charles Causley Poetry Competition; the musician Jim Causley (a distant relative); plus former and current Trustees Ron Tamplin, Rita Skinner, David Fryer, Kent Stanton, Vicky Reece-Romain and Malcolm Wright… and even the recorded voice of Charles Causley himself, reading from his poem ‘Keats at Teignmouth’.
Poetry is not a negligible thing …
