The Causley Trust are delighted to announce that they have appointed an Emerging Writer to take up the next residency at Cyprus Well, the former home of poet Charles Causley, in January 2021.
We received an overwhelming number of applications for the position and ended up interviewing six candidates for the role, from playwrights to poets to dystopian novelists.
It was an incredibly difficult decision to choose just one because of the quality of candidates and their work but we are so pleased that Jennifer Thompson will be taking up the role in January 2021 for two months.
Jennifer has recently finished her MA in travel and nature writing at Bath Spa University and she will use the time at Cyprus Well to work on a book that will explore the impact of growing up in a liminal place and will examine the idea that where we come from affects our relationship with the land and with each other.
Jennifer will be writing some blog posts for the Trust about her experience as the Emerging Writer and she will also be giving a public performance of her work so keep an eye on our website and social media channels to keep up to date with her residency.
Jennifer said: “I’m so honoured to be the Emerging Writer in Residence with the Causley Trust. Their work to promote regional art, be that from established or emerging artists, is very inspiring and I can’t wait to get started!”
