Spring’s Spell, by Linda Middleton
April 26, 2023
A witch-bee on a broomstick conjures spring:
The woods star-twinkle and bluebells ring ding.
Daffodils trumpet tunes of sunshine silk.
High hedgerow jumbles froth thick creamy milk.
Dandelion coins are scattered sun bright.
Buttery brimstones fly fluttery light.
Lamb’s tail catkins swish softly on the trees.
Whispers of swallows weave wide on the breeze.
Tadpoles wild wriggle black inky squiggles.
Snoozy dormice-curls awake and wiggle.
Primrose posies smile from the pea green banks.
The robin’s whistle warbles cheery thanks.
Woodpecker percussion drums bold the beat
As life cycles wheel beneath ancient feet.
Ocean skies are stirred with circles of wings.
The first wink of spring wakes hearts as it sings.
