A home is not a building
A structure, plain and bare
Home is where the heart is
Though your heart may be elsewhere
Home may be a safe place
Or maybe it is not
It may be the ocean, while
some say it’s in the treetops
Your house may be made of blocks of snow
Or maybe stone and sticks
Every house is unique
Some are mud and brick
Some might say quite plainly
Their home is not a room
Their stories take them far away
Far from dark and gloom
Imagining a fantasy
You may call that home
A picture perfect image
Could whisk you off to Rome
You may be sat in Italy
Bored beyond despair
You know that this is not your home
Where is it, oh where
Perhaps its your family
You’ll go wherever they go
On the other hand
You may like, to venture off on you own
So what does home mean to me
It means being with my family
Although I’ll always bring a book along
To fly off from the balcony
