The Maker The Charles Causley Literary Blog
Eden by Lauren Bilsborough

“I had not thought that it would be like this”
Our matching watches telling our shared time,
A welcome mat where “We” starts to exist
And shelves of books in piles of Yours & Mine.
Tomatoes newly planted in the soil
That sits behind the rose bush, Garden East
A fruit and an assumption, made by us,
That in the spring we’ll still be here to eat.
A wooden handmade tiger on the desk
We picked up from that stall in France or Frome
Knitted blankets, potted plants, clay bowls
And art and poems framed in all our rooms.
Late Tuesday in the cheese aisle, you & brie.
Aldi to Eden– all the same to me.
