Anne Blackwell-Fox Exhibition at Merchant House
December 5, 2024 at 8:00 am - February 5, 2025 at 5:00 pm
From the 5th December 2024 to 5th February 2025
Merchant House will display a collection of artworks by Anne Blackwell-Fox. Her artworks of forests, riverbanks, water reflections, and woodland scenes reflect her deep love of nature and act as emotional responses to the natural sublime.
“My paintings are often an emotional response to what I think are sublime spaces and they reflect my feeling at the time of their making. Almost a self-portrait of the mind. With the absence of human form, they appear as empty silent places and are met in solitude.
I make plein air sketches, sometimes write poetry and take photographs of places that inspire me. Back in my garden studio, I work mainly with oil paints on canvas, developing my source material further. My paintings can be literal at times but are also translated into semi-abstract works, giving a sense of freedom and expression with the brushwork.” – Anne Blackwell-Fox
