‘Untitled’ by Linda Adwera
When worlds collide a grape like sweetness
erupts.
You can’t help but two step your feet to new
sounds and tune your lips to strangers’ smiles.
The cost, is your mother on the outskirts, a
small price to pay.
And you, always moving to embrace centre
stage.
When worlds collide, they can find you
pleasing the curiosity of onlookers.
Red and green beads swinging from the nape
of your brown skin.
Is it fate or fortune that when worlds collide,
they birth a culmination of faces;
Who you used to be
Who you want to be
Who you think you are
And who you become when I am with you.
When worlds collide, conflict clouds you like a
blanket of darkness.
Sometimes chilly, mostly scarring but always
a street lamp a distance away.
