Granny’s getting fatter
but Grandpa’s getting thinner,
even though they eat the same
for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Grandpa’s ears are bigger
but the rest of him is smaller.
Granny’s hair is big and blue
and it makes her look much taller.
Grandpa smells of oil and smoke,
of cut grass, tweed and leather.
Granny smells of macaroons,
of peppermints and heather.
Granny walks quite slowly
but Grandpa walks much slower.
Granny can’t see all that well,
so Grandpa has to show her.
Granny calls my Grandpa Father
Grandpa calls her Mother.
Both of them are almost deaf,
but they understand each other.
