TRIGGER WARNING: SPIKING
The long night out again
Her dress picked out by a friend
Shorter than she’s comfortable with
But he insists
Makes her look older
They walk to the club
Staggering in heels
She has trainers?
But these are better
Makes her look leaner
Drinks at the bar
She just wants weak and fruity
Too many shot glasses
She hates the taste, doesn’t want to
But it makes her less uptight
She’s done, she says
Refuses anymore
Please, he begs
Sliding her something weak, something fruity
You’ll like this one
The lights are too bright
The music is too loud
She’s had too much and nothing at all
Who’s hands are these?
She crashes to the floor
The bouncer throws her out, apparently
She wakes up in the hospital
Her eyes glance at the bruises on her arms
When did those happen?
Where are her earrings?
The nurse raises her eyebrows
Ticks a clipboard
‘Remember to drink in moderation’
‘Slightly lower heels next time’
‘Prevention saves lives’
But he went home safe
He didn’t cry when his parents showed up
He showers and feels clean
He wears the same clothes every time
He remembers all of it
