Andy Nuttall, ‘Sky Geese’

November 30, 2022
About Andy Nuttall:
Andy hails from East Lancashire in Northern England, a stone’s throw from the Yorkshire province of Armitage and Hughes. Andy’s children’s poems have appeared in The Dirigible Balloon and Tyger Tyger Magazine. He has worked for twenty-five years in Social Work and was once an English Teacher. He has had grown-up stuff featured in Acumen and in Wave Six of Iambapoet Sound Platform curated by the poet Mark Antony Owen.

Nothing on this earth honks

quite like a goose!

Their klaxon-loud conversations

Shake out the dust

From both my ears and then a skein

Of them appear

And I can hear the wind pluck at their feathers.

They are brimful

Of the warmest greeting in any language

I have ever heard.

I wave my reply and shout goodbye!
